Research Sources for the Rhetorical and Genre Analysis Final Project

Option One: Use "Discovery Search" to Find Popular Articles

  • Enter key words in the "Discovery Search" search box:
  • When results appear, apply limits by checking off these items in the left column:
    • Date range
    • Magazines
  • These are some of the 9 results we got from limiting the search.
    • Notice the titles of the magazines that published the articles.

Option Two: Search in a General Periodical Database or a Newspaper Database for Articles

  • Search Example: Music Index
  • This search was limited to articles published after 2010, and to those published in magazines.
  • It was also limited to journals available in the Library's collection (also called "Full Text").

Option Three: Browse Issues of a Popular Music Magazine

  • On the main Berry Library search page, click "Journal Title Search" and enter the title of the magazine you want to browse. Click Go:
  • All of these databases carry Rolling Stone.
  • I select "Proquest Central."
  • I enter my key words:
  • I get 5 hits:
  • I click Full Text to view articles:
