Connecting to Wireless Internet
Salem State's ITS department has a simple yet comprehensive guide for connecting almost any device to the university's wireless network. Visit their page for instructions.
Using Databases Off-Campus
When prompted, use your Salem State network/wireless network user name & password to log into resources when you're off-campus. Students, use your Navigator login credentials. Faculty, use your Polaris login credentials. If you've forgotten your password, use the "Forgot Password?" links on the Navigator and Polaris login pages.
There are many State of Massachusetts libraries that have resources available without a user name & password. If you're physically located outside of Massachusetts when accessing the resources, use your library barcode number (the 14-digit number on the back of your Clipper Card) to log in.
Troubleshooting Off-Campus Access Problems
Firefox does not work reliably for off-campus access to resources. Please use another web browser to access our resources.
If you are having trouble with other browsers, try clearing your browser cache. To clear your browser cache, open your browser and press Ctrl-Shift-Delete (Windows) or Command-Shift-Delete (Mac).
ITS Help Desk
Please open a Help Desk ticket with ITS. Include what database you are trying to access, whether you reach the login screen or not, and where you are accessing the database from (on- or off-campus).
