- Charlotte Perkins Gilman, "The Yellow Wallpaper," p. 342
- William Faulkner, "A Rose for Emily," p. 314
- Leo Tolstoy, "The Death of Ivan Ilych," p. 889
- We will focus on finding scholarly articles in relevant journal databases: Academic Search Premier, JSTOR, the Modern Language Association International Bibliography, and ProjectMUSE.
- DH Lawrence's short story "The Rocking Horse Winner" will be used in our examples.
