DID YOU KNOW?

Salem State's Berry Library purchased an academic group license to the NYTimes.com for use by all Salem State University

students, faculty, and staff. If you have an authenticated SSU (network. Navigator, etc.) login, you have complimentary access.

The New York Times has won 132 Pulitzer Prizes and is long considered the “newspaper of record” in the United States.


 

HOW TO ACTIVATE

Note: Existing paid New York Times subscribers must cancel their paid subscription before authenticating via the school funded program.

Instructions for off-campus activation:
Step 1: Log into one of the library's other databases so that you have logged into our system (for example you could log into Academic Search Complete database).

Step 2: Click the link for the New York Times Digital Edition.

Step 3: Search for and click the listing for “Salem State University”

Step 4: Click “Create Account” and complete the registration fields. Follow the steps based on whether you are On or Off Campus. You must use your .edu email. 

Step 5: Verify your account (you will receive a confirmation email)*
* The confirmation email may be routed to your spam folder. You must select the link in this email to complete the registration.

Please Note: If you have previously registered your email address on The New York Times site, you will click the "Already have an account?" "Log in here" link (below the "Create Account" button)

Once registered, students will have access until 12/31 of the graduation year they choose and faculty/staff will have 4 years of full account access, after which they must re-authenticate by visiting http://accessnyt.com on the library's web page.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Once you activate your access as a new subscriber, you will be able to personalize your experience with newsletters and download the New York Times app. What's included with our campus subscription:

  • Access to most New York Times and International New York Times content — including news, reviews, opinion, blogs, videos and more — with no monthly limit on the number of stories you can read
  • Access content on the NYT mobile app (download it after creating your account)
  • Email newsletters and custom alerts delivered to your inbox
  • Access to nytimes.com/edu, the Times’ higher education website, including resources curated by area of study and teaching resources
  • Historical coverage — full access to articles published from 1851 through 1922, and from 1981 to today (Note: The Times limits individual users to five articles per day from the years 1923-1980.)
  • Select crosswords from the archives (the Crossword app is a separate product, but a few crosswords from the archives are available here)
