What Are Permalinks and Why Are They Important?
- Permalinks enable you to go back and read an article found in a database.
- They are not the same as the url typically found at the top of a web page.
- These urls expire over time.
- If you save these, you will be disappointed when you try to open articles later on
- Your articles will not open.
Examples of Finding and Using Permalinks
-
In a search for "alcoholism" in Academic Search Complete, I chose the first article:
-
I click on "Permalink"
-
I copy the long link that appears at the top of the page.
-
This is what I save and use later when I want to read the article.
-
It's important to capture the permalink at this moment it time.
-
If you don't, you will have to run the search for the article again.
