Copyright for Nursing Students: Getting Permission!

Getting Permission!

From the Stanford Libraries, The Basics of Getting Permission: Identify the Owner:

  1. Determine if permission is needed.
  2. Identify the owner.
  3. Identify the rights needed.
  4. Contact the owner and negotiate whether payment is required.
  5. Get your permission agreement in writing.

Give yourself PLENTY of time if you are getting permission from the owner or publisher.

Another option is to go through the Copyright Clearance Center. The US Copyright Office will also search for rights owners, but it is very costly.
