Searching for scholarly and professional sources

Library databases provide you with access to a number useful resources including: scholarly articles (top notch, peer-reviewed research in your field of study/career field); trade publications (magazines targeted for a specific field of work ie. math teacher, police chief, etc.); and popular newspapers and magazines (ie. Sports Illustrated, Time, Rolling Stone, etc.).

Below you will find example searches for topics related to your course assignment - these can serve as examples as you create a new search to find articles of use for your paper.  Additionally, use the searches you complete in your library class session.

You can also visit the library's basic search option on its home page or LibGuides (the library's online research guides) to access recommended databases related to your academic and career area(s) of interest:

Career related books

In addition to books at the SSU Library, Salem State's Career Services office is available to assist you.
