MKT 445: International Marketing Fall 2016: Key Sources: DOIs and CrossRef

What is the DOI?

  • A Document Object Identifier (DOI)  provides stable identifying addresses for journal articles.

Finding Full Text from CrossRef and doi.org

  • Look for citations that indicate DOAJ. This means they are open access from the Directory of Open Access Journals.
  • If you link to a citation from a journal owned by Salem State (such as Cambridge, etc.), the full text will appear if you are searching on campus.

Cross Ref

  • "CrossRef is an association of scholarly publishers that develops shared infrastructure to support more effective scholarly communications. Our citation-linking network today covers over 71 million journal articles and other content items..."
  • CrossRef facilitates searching for DOIs by metadata, article titles, text queries, and xml data.

  • CrossRef allows users to link from DOIs to citations or open access full-text of articles.
  • If on-campus users searching CrossRef access journals owned by Salem State Library, full-text will appear.
